Where an outbuilding is not suitable, an accessible wall on the house or another internal position can be considered.

Working With Existing Solar PV And Older Electrics

Solar panels installed several years ago may still be suitable for use alongside home battery storage. Their age alone does not mean the panels need replacing.

Renewable Planet can inspect the inverter, generation meter and electrical connections to establish how the system operates. Equipment information, generation records and available monitoring data can also support the review.

Older properties may have electrical work completed at different times, particularly where extensions, converted buildings or additional consumer units have been added. The battery installation needs to account for the complete supply arrangement.

Choosing An External Position Carefully

An external wall may provide a practical option where indoor space is limited. The position still needs to be suitable for the equipment and accessible for future support.

The equipment should not obstruct paths, gates, parking areas or entrances. Renewable Planet will also consider the finished cable route so visible connections are planned rather than added as an afterthought.

Electricity use can change considerably through the year. Heating controls, lighting, home working and time spent indoors may increase demand during darker months, while solar generation will also vary seasonally. This should be reflected in the system specification rather than assuming the same demand every day. Recent electricity bills, smart meter information and solar monitoring can help Renewable Planet understand these changes.
