Overview

Building a Smarter, More Sustainable Home in Timperley

Renewable Planet was commissioned to deliver a complete low-carbon heating and energy solution for a substantial family home in Timperley, Altrincham. The project combined a high-performance air source heat pump, whole-home underfloor heating across three floors, an integrated solar PV system, and battery storage to maximise efficiency, comfort, and energy independence.

The homeowner wanted to future-proof their property with a fully integrated renewable energy system while maintaining exceptional comfort throughout the home.

Working closely with the client, the team designed a bespoke system that balanced performance with aesthetics, ensuring all components were discreetly integrated into the property without compromising living space.

Careful load assessments and heat loss calculations were carried out to optimise system sizing and efficiency. Smart controls were installed to allow the homeowner to manage heating, hot water, and energy usage remotely.

The result is a highly efficient, low-carbon home that significantly reduces energy bills and carbon emissions while providing year-round comfort and reliability for the household. It also enhances resilience against future energy price volatility and grid instability risks.

Project Goals

1. Replace Traditional Heating with a Low-Carbon Alternative

The existing heating system was no longer aligned with the homeowner’s sustainability goals. The project centred around installing a Samsung R290 Air Source Heat Pump capable of providing efficient heating and hot water throughout the property while significantly reducing carbon emissions.

2. Deliver Consistent Comfort Throughout the Home

With three floors to heat, maintaining even temperatures was a priority. A whole-home underfloor heating system was designed and installed to provide comfortable, low-temperature heating across every level of the property.

3. Maximise Renewable Energy Generation

The homeowner wanted to take advantage of available roof space to generate clean electricity on-site. An in-roof solar PV system was incorporated to help offset household electricity consumption and support the operation of the heat pump.
