Overview
Warm Efficient Home, Alderley Edge

The property is a well‑loved family home in Alderley Edge — solid, traditional and full of character. Like many older British homes, it was originally built around a gas‑boiler heating setup that struggled to keep the house consistently warm, especially during the colder months.
The layout includes a mixture of original rooms and later improvements, which meant the heating system had to work hard to push warmth evenly throughout the home. Before the upgrade, the owners often found that some rooms heated quickly while others lagged behind, and the house could feel chilly during winter cold snaps.
Despite these challenges, the home had huge potential for a modern, efficient energy system. With good roof space for solar panels and enough external area for heat pumps, it was an ideal candidate for a full renewable transformation.
What makes this project stand out is how seamlessly the new technology blends into the character of the home. The in‑roof solar panels sit neatly within the roofline, the heat pumps operate quietly outside, and the Powerwalls are tucked away, providing reliable energy storage without intruding on the living space.

Client Testimonial
“Renewable Planet have installed Vissmann heat pumps to replace my gas boiler system. The whole team from initial enquiry, to project delivery have been excellent, and the technology is outstanding. The installation process was smooth, despite the work being done in November, with us living in the house. At every step the Renewable Planet team mitigated the disruption as far as possible, and they have delivered a very smart installation.A pleasure to work with, and my wife and I would recommend Renewable Planet.to everyone. Our house is warm and cosy, even when it was -9.6ËšC outside, before Christmas, whilst using very little electricity, Superb.”
Project Goals

Replace the gas boiler system with a high‑efficiency Viessmann heat pump setup to deliver reliable, low‑carbon heating throughout the home.
Improve cold‑weather performance by installing a twin 10kW Viessmann 150‑A cascade system capable of maintaining comfort even during extreme temperatures.
Increase hot‑water capacity with a 300L domestic cylinder designed to work efficiently with heat‑pump flow temperatures.
Enhance system stability using a 100L buffer and cascade pipework to ensure smooth, balanced operation across both heat pumps.
Reduce electricity consumption by installing a large 32‑panel (14.08kW) in‑roof solar PV array to generate clean, on‑site energy.
Maximise self‑consumption and resilience with three Tesla Powerwall 3 units providing whole‑home backup and intelligent energy storage.
Create a future‑ready energy system that integrates heating, hot water, solar generation and battery storage into one cohesive setup.
Minimise disruption during installation, ensuring the home remained warm and functional even while work took place in November.
Deliver a neat, well‑organised plant area with tidy pipework, smart controls and a visually clean finish.
Ensure full compliance and protection through DNO approval, MCS certification, commissioning and final sign‑off.
Installed Technologies
| Viessmann 150‑A Air Source Heat Pump | System components: – Viessmann 150‑A heat pumps — 2 × 10kW units with a 5‑year warranty – 300L domestic hot water cylinder for reliable hot water supply – 100L buffer vessel to stabilise system flow – Viessmann controller for intuitive operation – Cascade pipework for balanced performance between both heat pumps – Full heat‑pump pipework, valves and controls – DNO application, MCS certification, commissioning and final sign‑off – The twin‑heat‑pump configuration ensures the home stays warm even during extreme cold snaps — proven when the system kept the property cosy at –9.6°C while using surprisingly little electricity. |
| Ground‑Floor Underfloor Heating | To maximise self‑consumption and provide whole‑home backup, the property was fitted with three Tesla Powerwall 3 units. System features: – 3 × 13.5kWh Powerwall 3 batteries – Tesla Backup Gateway – Built‑in inverter for compact installation – Full commissioning, certification and DNO approval With three units working together, the home benefits from: – Whole‑home backup – Large‑scale energy storage – Smart charging using off‑peak tariffs – High self‑consumption of solar energy – Exceptional resilience during power cuts |
| In‑Roof Solar PV System | System details: – JA Solar 450W all‑black panels – GSE in‑roof mounting system for a flush, modern appearance – Full set of carriers, clamps, flashings, fixings and DC cabling – Foam sealing for weather protection – Full installation, commissioning, MCS certification and DNO approval -This array significantly offsets the home’s electricity use, especially when paired with the Powerwalls. |
